Soybeans:
Soybean aphid levels are climbing somewhat. Fields that had 25/plant average a week ago are now 50-80/plant. Some fields have hit thresholds and we are starting to treat them. It is in your benefit to hold off spraying as long as possible to avoid spraying twice. Threshold levels are 250 per plant. Consider using pyrethroid chemistry with earlier applications to provide longer repellency.
We are also seeing some defoliation from Green Clover Worm and Soybean (cabbage) Loopers.
Alfalfa:
- Call us when your done harvesting 3rd crop alfalfa so we can come and take your soil samples promptly.
- Potato Leaf Hopper levels are remaining the same for the most part.
- We are seeing some Green Clover Worm feeding.
Corn:
If your corn is brown silk or beyond there is still time to apply fungicide. In Central and Northern MN there is a lower chance of a statistical yield response. Scout fields for disease especially corn following corn and hybrids with lower disease resistance.
